Stefanos Tsitsipas has been experiencing a rather weird problem with his shoes in his career. In fact, due to his footwork, he keeps on breaking his shoelaces during the matches especially when he tries “hard.”
The Greek admits that he is extremely frustrated by this occurrence that often breaks the rhythm during his matches.
Tsitsipas’ shoe gate vs. Paire
Benoit Paire was extremely irritated during his quarterfinal match against Stefanos after the Greek had to interrupt the play in a crucial moment of the second set. Later Tsitsipas admitted that Paire was right and that he needs to do something to correct this problem.
What happened with Kyrgios
Once again, Stefanos had to stop the match when he broke his shoelace and this time it was Nick Kyrgios to deliver the shoes bowing in front of “King Stefanos” and the Greek couldn’t contain his amusement.
Eventually, things got not so pretty for Tsitsipas that lost the match 6-4 3-6 7-6 (7) after he wasn’t able to convert a match point when Kyrgios was serving in the breaker and Stefanos was leading 6-5.
H2H Kyrgios vs. Medvedev
The Greek will now head to Montreal for the Rogers Cup while Kyrgios will play the final against Daniil Medvedev.
The head to head is 1-0 for the Australian that defeated Daniil this year in Rome 6-3 3-6 6-3 before suffering his famous meltdown against Casper Ruud in the following round.
