Del Potro withdraws from the Australian Open

Juan Martin Del Potro surprises after announcing his withdrawal from the Australian open.

The Argentine has recently expressed his doubts about competing in January to state that he would like to get more time to train. It was clear that he was about to rule out his participation to Auckland and the Davis Cup tie (due in early February), but we didn’t think he would pull out from Melbourne.

Eventually, Juan Martin decided to skip the first slam of the year.

From the Auckland Classic organization

The Auckland Classic organization released the following statement

“Juan Martin del Potro has confirmed he will withdraw from the Australasian swing due to fitness issues. Del Potro confirmed via his management team overnight that he has not had sufficient recovery time and will be withdrawing from the Auckland Classic and the Australian Open.”

It’s not clear yet the exact date of Delpo’s comeback.
