An important milestone in the development of padel in Great Britain has been reached with the official opening of the new courts at East Grinstead Sports Club by Sandi Procter, President of the Lawn Tennis Association.
Local leaders, such as East Grinstead Mayor John Belsey and Mims Davies MP, attended the May 18 event. One of the biggest contributions given by the LTA Tennis Foundation, the Quick Access Loan, enabled the construction of the four covered courts with floodlights and weatherproof elements.
Procter highlighted padel’s rising national appeal and underlined its significance in extending access to racket sports. The club’s goal of encouraging inclusion and community involvement is in line with the new courts’ public accessibility.
Incorporating padel within the club’s multi-sport activities excites Richard Leman, acting head of the trustees. He urged athletes of all skill levels to try the sport and commended the teamwork that made the endeavor possible.
More than 400,000 individuals play padel in Great Britain, where its popularity has grown in recent years. In order to fulfill the growing demand, the LTA has invested millions in its growth and supported the building of courts across the country.
The East Grinstead padel courts’ opening marks yet another significant turning point in the growth of the sport by giving players access to a first-rate facility and bolstering the local athletic community.
