Bianca Andreescu has reflected on her journey back to professional tennis, sharing insights into the challenges of self-doubt and the search for balance. The Canadian star, who peaked at world number four, has been candid about how her mindset has influenced her career.

Andreescu admitted that while her time away from the sport allowed her to explore new interests, it also led to overthinking. She engaged in volunteer work, attended retreats, and read extensively, but she realized that too much analysis sometimes worked against her. “It is definitely great, but sometimes I can get too much in my head with all the information that I’m seeking,” she shared.

This is what she said: “It’s like how can I be Bianca now instead of how can I be Bianca from last year, or even, you know, 2019, right? Because everyone talks about 2019, but it’s never going to be the case. So it’s like finding who Bianca is now is the most important thing.

I can definitely have a toxic relationship in a way with the sport, and so it’s just really focusing on giving myself grace of, yes, I’m a perfectionist and I know where my level can be, but it’s also like, I’m not the same person I was back in 2019.”

She also acknowledged the tendency to compare herself to her past performances, particularly her breakthrough year in 2019 when she won the US Open. However, she is now focused on embracing the present and evolving as a player. “It’s like how can I be Bianca now instead of how can I be Bianca from last year, or even, you know, 2019,” she explained.

Andreescu’s return to competition has been marked by steady progress. She recently secured a strong win in the French Open qualifiers and is determined to build momentum. As she continues to refine her approach, she remains committed to finding the right balance between ambition and self-awareness. Fans will be watching closely to see how her journey unfolds.
