We all hope that Federer’s career will last forever, but the grim reality is that the Swiss Maestro may have only another two or three years to play.
Roger has been extremely successful in his career and in setting up and managing his foundation that helps almost one million kids around the world.
How I will help kids around the world after I retire. FEDERER
The Swiss sensation outlines his ideas about his involvement with the foundation after he will have more time in his hands. Roger doesn’t have a detailed plan, but he knows he can give more.
During a recent interview, Roger commented
“At the beginning, it was all so new to me. I had started playing on the ATP Tour; I was enjoying my first success. Because of my first success, I was making money; I could pay my coaches myself, and it was time to think forward. How much I could give back as a tennis player and human being. I was very fortunate and privileged to help unprivileged people.
I didn’t know what I was going into. At the time, I had people around me who explained how a foundation was run. We are only at the beginning despite we started 13 years ago, and it says a lot about how it could last. It’s very important to have a clever business plan and that all our projects go well.
How do I imagine it in 10 years? I won’t play tennis anymore; I will have more time for the field visits, I will try to find more ways to raise funds. So you can always do more.”
