With a distinctive athletic event right in the middle of the city, Plymouth is ready to embrace the thrill of Wimbledon for two weeks. Residents and tourists will be able to try out one of the fastest-growing sports in the UK when Padel United UK installs a full-size padel court in the Piazza in the city center.
A large screen showing live Wimbledon matches will be installed alongside the pop-up court, creating a lively environment for fans of both padel and tennis. Two hundred deckchairs will be positioned across the venue to improve the experience and encourage guests to unwind and take in the action.
The celebration will include traditional Wimbledon-themed refreshments like strawberries, Pimms, Prosecco, and fish & chips in addition to the athletic display. Supported by Plymouth Marjon University and Plymouth City Centre Company, the campaign seeks to celebrate the spirit of summer sports while introducing more people to padel.
Free admission to the Wimbledon screens and the padel court will be provided throughout the June 30–13 event. The organizers anticipate that the padel, tennis, and social events will draw thousands of people and create a memorable summer event for Plymouth.
