Fantastic stuff in Karlsruhe.
It could have been a rather anonymous match in Karlsruhe as in the 1st round the world no.65 Alison Van Uytvanck faced world no.123 Greet Minnen. However, the peculiarity of this encounter was that Alison and Greet are dating for at least 1 year and a half.
The draw was “cruel” and both Alison and Greet played at their best, and it was Van Uytvanck to win 6-4 1-6 6-1. The nice thing is that soon after the battle the couple had a great hug and a kiss at the net not shy (and they shouldn’t) about their relationship.
It’s nothing to be ashamed…
Alison commented during an interview:
“I’m happy and it doesn’t make any difference if that’s with a woman or a man. I just feel that it’s something we shouldn’t be ashamed about and that does make me feel more free.”
… being gay is not a disease
Last year, Van Uytvanck disclosed:
“Soon we are going to live together. We do feel super happy together and that’s what we will show to the world. Nobody has to justify why they are lesbian or gay, it is not a disease. We are very open about our relationship and my parents are proud about it.”
That’s a really nice message. Well done!
