Rome’s iconic Fontana di Trevi has been transformed into a dazzling spectacle as part of the celebrations for the Internazionali BNL d’Italia. A breathtaking video mapping display has been projected onto the historic monument, blending the grandeur of classical architecture with the energy of modern tennis.
The light show, which runs nightly from May 3 to May 11, features vibrant colors inspired by the clay courts of the tournament, including shades of yellow, turquoise, violet, and ochre. The projections also showcase silhouettes of top players such as Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, Iga Swiatek, and Aryna Sabalenka, creating a striking fusion of sport and culture.
The initiative, supported by the Italian Tennis and Padel Federation (FITP) and Rome’s tourism department, aims to connect the city’s rich heritage with the excitement of the tournament. While many spectators have praised the display, some critics argue that such modern visuals may not suit a monument of historical significance.
The Fontana di Trevi has previously hosted similar events, including last year’s tournament draw, reinforcing its role as a symbolic backdrop for major sporting occasions. As the Internazionali d’Italia continues, the stunning visuals at the fountain remain a must-see attraction for visitors in Rome.
