Paula Badosa and Petra Kvitova have withdrawn from the Internazionali BNL d’Italia due to injury, forcing changes in the tournament lineup. Badosa, who has been struggling with a persistent back issue, was set to face Naomi Osaka in the second round but will be replaced by lucky loser Viktorija Golubic.

Kvitova, who recently returned to competition after maternity leave, was scheduled to play Ons Jabeur. However, a right lower leg injury has forced her to pull out, allowing Jabeur to advance via walkover.

Badosa’s withdrawal continues a difficult season for the Spaniard, who has been dealing with recurring fitness concerns. She previously retired from matches in Merida and Miami and withdrew from Indian Wells and Madrid due to the same back problem.

As the tournament progresses, Jabeur will now prepare for her third-round match against either Jasmine Paolini or Lulu Sun. Meanwhile, fans hope for a swift recovery for both Badosa and Kvitova as they aim to return to competition soon.
