Why Murray needs to win at least 2 slams in 2017.Rusedski

Andy Murray had a fantastic 2016 after he won a total nine tournaments, a slam, the Olympics and he managed to end the season as the world no.1.

According to former world no.4 Greg Rusedski, it was an anomaly that Andy finished the season in the top spot in the rankings because usually, the world no.1 is the one with the most majors in his pocket. Therefore, the fact that Djokovic won 2 majors and Murray only 1 is an anomaly.

Next year he should target at least two majors.

Rusedski released the following comments

“I think next year is going to define how many majors he’s going to win. Next year the goal’s got to be to try to win at least two majors because usually, the best player on the planet has the most majors in their pocket. This year was a rarity that the player who finished number one didn’t have the most majors.”

He should win the Australian Open

Talking about the slam that Andy is likely to win, Greg thinks that he has a great shot at the Australian Open,

“For him, that’s one of the slams you would have expected him to win first. He gets his off-season usually spot on so I think going in he has to be the favorite for the title.

I always thought he could win the French, but I think he didn’t believe he could win. Djokovic finally won his first one this year; Federer only won his when Rafa went out, so it’s not an easy thing to do.

Rafa’s going to be back, and I’m sure Novak’s going to be back, but Andy’s got a great shot.”
