Under the direction of Marc Klopp, the son of former Liverpool manager Jorg Klopp, padel courts are being brought to the city. His business, Padel FC, was selected as the preferred bidder to construct a padel club at Liverpool Tennis Centre after Liverpool City Council made the effort to introduce padel to the neighborhood.

The proposed facility will include six indoor and three outdoor padel courts, as well as amenities like food trucks and restrooms. The development’s dome-shaped steel framework, coated in plastic sheeting, will ensure playability all year round. Padel FC plans to invest about 500,000 in the project, with an initial rent of 70,000 per year that will increase to 140,000 in subsequent years.

Liverpool City Council has approved a 25-year lease, and the cabinet of the local government will further debate the project. If approved, the courts will address the growing popularity of padel by acting as a new sports hub for the city.

Marc Klopp, together with co-directors Carl Spellman, Michael Smith, and Bradley Orr, hopes to establish Liverpool as a padel player’s favorite spot. The new location may be essential to the sport’s expansion in the UK given its rising global appeal.
