Ivan Ljubicic is the proud coach (and friend) of Roger Federer, and he had to share with Roger’s fan a huge disappointment after the Swiss legend wasn’t able to win the Wimbledon final even if he had 2 consecutive championship points on serve.
The Croatian used to train Milos Raonic (2013-2015), and he is in Federer’s team since 2016. Therefore, Ivan had the chance to live the good the bad and the ugly with the Maestro.
Federer vs. Nadal in Melbourne the best match in history
During an interview after the Championships, Ivan had the chances to express himself about what happened in Wimbledon and what’s the best match in history. Ljubicic commented:
“[Federer] He has won 14 points more [than Djokovic] that is 3 games and a half. It’s not small, but there are no rules in tennis. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. Roger was the best player on court, but he did not understand it. We move forward. It’s just a game, and your life does not change because of a final.”
Then he added:
“Many people have described it as the best game of all time. For me, no match will have the same emotions as the final of the Australian Open 2017 between Roger and Rafael Nadal. For me, he [Federer] is still the best player in the world. I am happy and proud that he is still the same man as before.”
