Nick Kyrgios has won 3 tournaments in 2016 (Marseille, Atlanta, and Toyo), and he ended the season as world no.13. Unfortunately, that wasn’t enough to be nominated for the Newcombe Awards after he was suspended for three weeks for his horrible behavior in Shanghai where he refused to compete against Misha Zverev.
Sarcasm
Kokkinakis tweeted his surprise for being nominated for the medal after the Australian was sidelined for the entire season because he couldn’t recover properly from his shoulder operation. Kokkinakis played only one match in the Rio Opener where he lost to Gastao Elias.
Thanasi tweeted “Surely I’m nominated at the Newcombe Medal this year?!?” Kyrgios replied, “Kokky this applies to us both.”

NO respect
Nick has shown no respect for the Award after retweeting a post stating that the award is “slowly morphing into the teacher’s pet award.”
Nick won the award in 2014.
If @TennisAustralia are keen for the Newcombe Medal to become a prestigious medal, you can’t keep leaving @NickKyrgios from the nominees
