Full day for the ladies tennis in Madrid
SERENA WILLIAMS – VESNINA 6-3 6-1
Serena overwhelms the Russian in 69 minutes. On the paper it wasn’t a super easy match due to the fact that Vesnina is good form. Just last week the Russian reached the final in Budapest.
The American felt comfortable in every department of her tennis. Her serve was particularly effective to blast 14 aces, win 89% points on the first serve without conceding a break point.
“I was feeling good,” Williams told reporters. “It’s my first tournament in Europe this year and I just hope I can keep up the good form,” added the American who has yet to lose in eight clay outings this season.”I haven’t noticed a difference between the blue and the red clay. I think it’s the same, it’s just you don’t get as dirty,”

KVITOVA – ERAKOVIC 6-2 6-3
Easy game for the world nr.4. It took only 67 minutes for Petra to dismiss Erakovic. Petra was always in control of the match to break her opponent 4 times.
She will play qualifier Hradeka in the next round
STOSUR – McHALE 2-6 6-4 6-0
Sam keeps on struggling on the blue dirt. This time it was with the world nr.38 Christina McHale of America. The Australian had to recover a 1 set down deficit to fight back and win the 2nd and the 3rd set.
Sam was quite effective in the decider to leave only 11 points to the American teenager.
Stosur will confront Cetkovska in the next round.
KERBER – VENUS WILLIAMS 6-4 6-1
This was the match of the day and it had a (very) bad outcom for the America. Angelique displayed a good tennis to dispatch Venus in 64 minutes.
Venus’ tennis was completely uneffective. Her serve didn’t bite at all: no aces, 14 break points conceded, broken 6 times (66% of her service games!)
Kerber will play Na li in the third round.
