Nishikori qualifies for the semi despite losing to Cilic

Kei Nishikori qualifies for the World Tour Finals after he lost to Marin Cilic in the 3rd match of the round-robin 3-6 6-2 6-3. The Japanese had a fantastic start to lead 6-3 1-0 before unfolding and losing five consecutive games that allowed the Croat to bring the encounter to the decider. Marin stepped up in the third to break Nishikori twice and wrap up the match after 1 hour and 53 minutes.

Kei was upset for losing the match also because he felt he was playing good tennis. The Japanese will face Novak Djokovic in the final 4. Kei commented

“I just tried to focus today’s match. Unfortunately, it was a tough loss. But hope I can play better tomorrow. I will try to think tonight or tomorrow what I have to do to beat Djoko. I mean, I’m obviously not playing bad.”
