The Citi Open hasn’t started yet at “main draw” level and the tournament is already drawing huge attention because of the participation of the new tennis sensation Cori Gauff.
The 15-year-old stunned the tennis community after she reached the 2nd week in Wimbledon after defeating her childhood idol 6-4 6-4. Coco eventually was defeated by Simona Halep in the 4th round 6-3 6-3.
The teenager stunned the tennis experts with her maturity and even if there is still a lot of work to do she really seems to be a champion in the making.

The upcoming American couldn’t get a wild card for the main draw in Washington, but she had the opportunity to play the qualifications. Currently ranked 143, she defeated her compatriot and world no. 338 Maegan Manasse 6-4 6-2 and she will face Hiroko Juwata for a place in the main draw.
Why Coco is so excited
The American also confesses that she is surprised with the following that she is having to comment
“I’m super grateful for all the people cheering for me. I try my best to sign or take pictures for everyone because I remember when I was younger how much that meant to me.”
It’s still a lot do, but the beginning looks rather promising.
