Andy Murray wasn’t very lucky in his draw in London at the World Tour Finals as he fell in the same groups as Wawrinka, Nishikori, and an in-form Cilic. The Brit must fight hard to retain his world no.1 spot against Novak Djokovic that had a fantastic draw with an injured Raonic, an enigmatic Monfils, and a struggling Thiem.

Why this draw is bad for Murray

Even if Andy has a winning record with all players, he has lost his last match against Nishikori (US Open quarters), Cilic (Cincinnati final), and he has lost three of the last four matches against Wawrinka that has already beaten him in the last year’s round robin in London.

Why this draw is great for Djokovic

Nole has a 7-0 win-loss record against Raonic (and the Canadian is also injured); the world no.2 has a 13-0 record against Monfils that has no experience in playing the season’s finale. Finally, Djokovic has a 3-0 record against Thiem that is completely out of shape (he won just one match in the last five).

This draw means that Djokovic has a clear shot at regaining the world no.1 rank by the year’s end. Nole has won the last 4 editions. Give his state of mind it’s difficult he will get also this one, but you’ll never know!
