
Dayana Yastremska’s campaign at the Stuttgart WTA tournament came to an abrupt end as she retired during her first-round match against Jelena Ostapenko. The Ukrainian player was trailing 6-3, 3-0 when she decided to withdraw, citing physical discomfort.
Yastremska had entered the tournament with high hopes, but her performance against Ostapenko was hindered by visible struggles on the court. Despite her efforts to compete, the situation became untenable, leading to her retirement mid-match.
Ostapenko, ranked No. 24 in the world, advanced to the next round following Yastremska’s withdrawal. The Latvian player displayed solid form throughout the match, capitalizing on her opponent’s difficulties to secure a commanding lead.
