In a week dominated by Andy Murray’s historical achievement (new world no.1), also Petra Kvitova has found some glory. The Czech wins the tournament in Zhuhai after defeating Elina Svitolina 6-4 6-2 in just 70 minutes.
I knew I had this match. KVITOVA
Petra managed to overcome a slow start from 1-4 and two breaks down, to win 11 of the following 13 games. The Czech commented
“I knew that it’s still in my hands. I just felt that she played a little bit aggressively than me at the beginning of the match. I was a little bit trying to get the rhythm to play a little bit more aggressive, maybe a little bit longer rallies, which I can go to the game and be able to play.”
This was Petra’s 2 title of the season after Wuhan, the 19th of her great career.
