Finally, Andy Murray!

At 29 years of age, Andy becomes the new world no.1 for the first time in his fantastic career. The Brit has achieved this important result after he reached the final in Paris following the retirement of Milos Raonic.

Even if Murray’s season has been exceptional, nobody would have thought this possible in March when Djokovic had already won the Australian Open, Indian Wells, and Miami. Things changed dramatically after Ivan Lendl joined Murray’s team again. From that moment Andy won the Queen’s, Wimbledon, the gold in Rio, Cincinnati, Beijing, Shanghai, Vienna and now he is the hot favorite to triumph in Paris.

Andy wanted to stress the fact that being the world no.1 is an extremely tough achievement that can be reached only after a very consistent season, week in, week out

“To get to No. 1 isn’t about today, but it’s about 12 months of tournaments to get to this stage,” commented the Brit. “The last few months have been the best of my career, and I am very proud to have reached No. 1. It has been a goal of mine for the past few years.”

Murray will be the 26^th man in modern history to be ranked no.1, and he will be the second-oldest player to achieve that for the first time after Newcombe (30 years).
