Andreas Seppi wins the Serbia Open in Belgrade. Youtube highlights

OK… that was not the Roland Garros and there were many key players missing like Djokovic (talking about Novak…), Tipsarevic and Troiki, but that was still a very good achievement for the Italian.

It seems that the Italian tennis is trying to get to better places. The ladies have been achieving decent results (Schiavone at Roland Garros and some Fed Cups), but the boys… well…

Fortunately, Italians start to shine at least in minor tournaments. Sara Errani won another (minor) title in Budapest, and now Seppi wins this 250 ATP in Belgrade. (Last week Fognini lost in the final in Bucharest against Simon)

Seeded nr.2, Andreas did his honest job to get to the semis playing a good tennis. The biggest match was in the semis against Nalbandian when the Italian fought back from a 1 set down deficit  to eventually win 2-6 6-2 7-5.

The final was a one way traffic with the Italian conceding only 5 games to Paire (world nr. 96… after the tournament nr.67).

Just in time to fly to Madrid to play in the Smurf courts against LLodra in he first round…
