Djokovic edges Dimitrov in 3 sets

Novak Djokovic shows that he is still there with his competitiveness. The world no.1 had a terrible match-up in the third round in Paris as he had to face an in-form Grigor Dimitrov.

After losing the first set when he was broken twice, the Serbian remained calm to gain a decisive and fast start (3-0) in both the second and the third set. Eventually, Djokovic won the encounter 4-6 6-2 6-3 after 2 hours and 23 minutes.

After the match, Nole commented

“I’m very grateful to have such a crowd and perform in front of them. I think they appreciated the battle between Grigor and I today. I think we both gave what we could. I think it was a really, really nice match to be a part of.”

Next vs. Cilic – Head to head

Djokovic will play Marin Cilic in the quarters. The head to head is 14-0 for the world no.1 that is the hot favorite to reach the final 4. Even if Novak has an excellent record against Marin, he is still aware that the Croatian will be a tough customer

“He loves these kinds of very quick courts. He won Cincinnati in very similar, even faster conditions,” commented Djokovic. “I know what I need to do, and hopefully I’ll be able to execute it well tomorrow.”
