If you want to be a professional tennis player, you need to have high goals. Sometimes you get them (e.g., Djokovic saying he wanted to be world no.1 when he was a kid), some other times you don’t (e.g., Gulbis saying his only target is to be the world no.1).
At 15 years of age, Angelique Kerber made it clear in an interview that her goal was to win neither the Australian Open (she did it!) or Wimbledon (she fell in the final this year).
In this interview, the German commented “It’s definitely my goal to win Wimbledon or the Australian Open one day or to participate there. And I will fight for it.”
