Novak Djokovic is one of the greatest players ever. He has just won his 16th Grand Slam and came close to two other greats of the game Nadal and Federer in terms of the number of Grand Slam wins. Novak is not only a champion of tennis but also a kind-hearted man who is helping many children and young people realise their dreams.
What does Novak Djokovic’s Foundation do?
Back in his native Serbia, the Novak Djokovic Foundation is helping young children in the field of education.
Jelena Djokovic, the wife of the tennis champ is the co-founder and the national director of the Foundation says that the early years of children is so important to build their future. To quote her:
“Their early years are so incredibly important and make the foundation upon which children can build their future. There are still so many children in Serbia that lack early childhood learning opportunities and seeing what we have achieved here today is what makes our work ever so meaningful and important.”
Novak also wants young people to become good at sports. When asked as to what advice he would like to give to the younger people, the Serb said:
“Best advice I can give to the younger person is not never give up on their dreams, to follow their intuition and when you are young some decisions can change the course of your life. You need that intuition to make the right choice and at the end of the day you have to do something that you really enjoy. You need to understand what the other person feels and needs. Especially if you are a child, it’s crucial for every human being, to be emphatic, understand how to help the human beings.”
Like Federer, Djokovic also wants to be remembered as a person who helped young people realise their dreams, he says: “I’d like to be remembered as a human being who has used his success on the tennis court to help others and really make a difference in people’s lives through education and sports, to give values, to help with nutrition which I am really passionate about.
