What Djokovic needs to do to beat Federer’s slam record and become the GOAT. MARIAN VAJDA

This is what Djokovic needs to do to become the GOAT!

In Wimbledon finals, most of the crowd was not supportive of Novak Djokovic, in fact, they cheered when the Serbian double-faulted or made any other mistakes. The world no.1 had to look for support from his coach, Marián Vajda.

Why Novak Djokovic will win more Grand Slams than Federer?

Vajda thought that the Wimbledon final was one of the most dramatic ever. He said that though the crowd was mostly in favour of Federer, Novak has the mental toughness to win matches in most complicated situations. He also said that there were some tactical maneuvering that helped Djokovic to win the match. Djokovic’s coach says that they knew that Roger would like to come to the net but Novak played some good strokes to hold him back.

Novak is also smart in managing his emotions. He is able to handle the pressure situations well, it was one of the reasons that he won the match against Federer.

Novak completely believes that he will take over the Swiss champion for the most number of Grand Slams. Vajda says that it is one of his goals:

For him, it’s the goal, absolutely.”

The Serbian’s coach thinks that now Djokovic needs to prepare for the US Open and for that he needs to relax and stay healthy.

“It’s near and far. Novak returned to the peak of his performance. Now he needs to relax, train well and prepare for the US Open. He plans to win Grand Slam tournaments and overtake Federer. There is no reason not to think of other great triumphs. But he must stay healthy. ”

One of the greatest quality the Serbian has is “doggedness” which helps him to perform better in crunch situations.

Though Federer did better in terms of scoring more points in the match and other statistics, Novak was better when it really mattered.

Vajda explains this in the following words:

“A mental battle, more than anything else, It was all about focus there at the end.”

Novak himself thinks that his competition with Federer and Nadal inspires him and motivates him to be at his best:

“Those two guys are probably one of the biggest reasons I still compete at this level. The fact that they made history in this sport motivates me as well, inspires me to try to do what they have done, what they’ve achieved, and even more.”
