Andy Murray and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga will play the final in Vienna.
Murray
Andy was blessed in the semifinal by a walk over. Unfortunately, David Ferrer wasn’t able to compete because he injured his left leg during his quarter-final against Viktor Troicki. The Spaniard commented “It was impossible. I am disappointed, but I have to be positive and will be ready for next season.”
This retirement was good news for Murray that will be in full strengths for the final after an easy quarter against Isner when he won 6-1 6-3 and a day off.
Tsonga
The Frenchman had a completely different day than Murray as he had to battle hard in the final four against Ivo Karlovic. The fight lasted 2 hours and 34 minutes, and it ended up in the last 2 points after Jo-Wilfried saved a match point in the final breaker. Eventually, Tsonga won the contest 5-7 7-5 7-6 (6).
Head to head
Murray leads Tsonga 13-2. They have played on indoor hard courts twice, and on both occasions, the Brit won in straight sets. The last time they played it was a fantastic battle this year in the Wimbledon quarters when Andy won in 5 sets.
