Radwanska, Pliskova to fight for a place in the Singapore semi

Agnieszka Radwanska beats Garbine Muguruza in the second match of her group to have a shot at qualifying for the last 4.

Aga had to fight hard to beat the Spaniard 7-6 (1) 6-3. In the first set, the Pole broke Garbine when she was 4-5 down to win the opener in the tiebreak. Muguruza had a head start in the second set to conquer a 2-0 lead, but eventually she lost four consecutive games after she was leading 3-2.

There were many ups and downs. RADWANSKA

Even if Aga was well aware that she didn’t play her best tennis, she was still rather happy for the win. The Pole commented

“There were a lot of ups and downs, obviously, and I think there were a lot of breaks as well, so it was an open [first] set. I’m just happy that I could play a good tie-break; that helped a lot!

I’ve got great memories from last year; I was really feeling good on court. I really appreciated the Polish fans and Polish voices.”

Head to head

Aga will play next Karolina Pliskova for a place in the semifinal. Radwanska leads Pliskova 6-0, and she has never conceded a single set to the Czech.
