Kerber leads the RED group in Singapore

If you think that Angelique Kerber doesn’t deserve the world no.1 rank, think again!

The German leads the RED group after she dismissed Madison Key (6-4 6-2) and then Simona Halep (6-2 6-4) in style.

Angelique had to battle only half a set against Simona Halep, then starting from the 8th game of the opener, she proved to be too strong to grab eight of the following nine games and change the scoreline from 3-4 to 6-4 5-1. Eventually, the German won the encounter 6-4 6-2.

After the match, Angelique commented

“I’m feeling very good here. I’m really enjoying being back here on the center court and playing my best tennis. I think we played a great match today.

I try every time I step on court to give my best. Of course, every match here is tough – it’s the best eight players in the world – and I’m just trying to focus on my game.”

In the other match, Madison Keys defeated Dominika Cibulkova 6-1 6-4.
