DOPING. Murray thinks that players should publish TUEs

Andy Murray is currently focused on his next tournament in Vienna where he has the chance to get closer to Novak Djokovic in the rankings.

During a recent interview with the Telegraph Sports Andy was asked about his opinion about the TUEs. A Therapeutic Use Exemption is an official certificate that allows an athlete to take a banned substance for medical reason. The process is confidential and the athlete can decide if he or she wants to keep it private or not. Andy thinks that TUEs have to be disclosed.

Players should publish TUEs

The Brit said he has never took advantage of a TUE in his career to add

“I’ve seen quite a lot of it. I don’t think every TUE is bad, but there are TUEs that are abused, for sure. And I do think that now is the time when all TUEs should be transparent.

Everyone should know, if an athlete is given a TUE, what it is they’re taking and the reasons for it. And also the medical reasons behind it because we don’t always find that out. Maybe that isn’t perfect and a lot of people like to keep their medical records confidential. But when things like this happen, it could clear a lot of things up.”

Andy has always been rather vocal about “cheaters” and he was not shy to attack Maria Sharapova over her ban.
