Svetlana Kuznetsova will play a very important match against Daria Gavrilova in Moscow. The Russian has been having an amazing run in the second part of the season to have a shot at grabbing the last spot in the Finals in Singapore, but that will come only if she grabs the title.

Svetlana reached the final after defeating Svitolina in the last four after a tight battle that ended 6-1 6-7 (2) 6-4. After the match, Svetlana commented

“I knew what I had to do, but in the second set, I stopped playing the ‘right’ tennis. I realized what was going on, I understood it was wrong but couldn’t do anything about it. And I had to play three sets.” 

The final vs. Gavrilova – head to head

Kuznetsova will pay a surprising Daria Gavrilova for the title. The Australian defeated Julia Goerges 7-5 6-1 in the semifinal. The head to head between Svetlana and Daria is 2-0 for the Russian.
