Corentin Moutet has voiced his frustration over what he described as unfair treatment during his Miami Open match against Alejandro Tabilo. The French player shared his concerns about certain decisions and moments in the game that he felt disrupted the fairness of the competition.

In his post-match comments, Moutet highlighted specific instances where he believed the calls or conduct on court adversely impacted his performance. He expressed disappointment at the handling of the match, emphasizing the importance of consistency and neutrality in officiating.

This is what he wrote:

“I see that many people are still talking about my match against Tabilo. I’ve decided to share once and for all what’s really happened, after which I will leave this incident behind me.

Since the first point of the match, the public was hostile: making noise on purpose during my serves, whistling, insults, provocative gestures…Those that watched the match can tell I did not respond for 1h and a half, I was just playing and catching up to the score. But as the match went on, the more agressive the atmosphere got.

After two hours, without any intervention from the umpire to calm the crowd, I reacted by raising my arms three times to incite the public to make even more noise. It was then that someone gave me the finger. I judged that this went beyond the limits of what an athlete can accept on court. So I asked the umpire to remove this person before resuming the match.

Instead of listening to me, he ordered me to keep playing, refusing to intervene. I then asked to speak with the supervisor, saying that I would not resume playing if that individual stayed in the public.

Result: the umpire decided to penalise me and made me lose the set.

When the supervisor arrived, I explained the situation.

He went away and came back saying that someone (whose identity he refused to reveal) affirmed that it was I who gave the finger. He then decided to penalise me again, with a game penalty to begin the 3rd set, offering a break to my opponent.

Since this incident, I’ve received many criticism and insults. To say that it doesn’t affect me would be a lie. I’ve always given the best of myself to the craft, invested a lot of efforts and made innumerable sacrifices to reach my goals. I’ve learned to accept that suffering is part of the journey, but I refuse to believe that being a public person means that I am always be in the wrong and that I deserve the hate of others.”
