Djokovic implodes against Bautista Agut

It was probably long due.

Novak Djokovic is not the Serbinator will all know as he is becoming more and more “normal.”  The world no.1 has recently declared that his priority is not winning slams and titles, and this is preventing him from taking full advantage of his well-known drive. Nole has won a bizarre 3-setter against the world no.110 Misha Zverev in the Shanghai quarters, and now he falls to (a good) Roberto Bautista Agut in the semi (6-4 6-4). Djokovic was broken four times (!!!), and he lost the last three service games of the match.

Even if Djokovic is preaching for a more “Zen-like” approach, he couldn’t refrain from destroying a racket after losing the first set.

I need to fix things from an emotional and mental point of view. DJOKOVIC

After the match, Novak conceded he is still struggling to state

“There are definitely things that I need to regain from the emotional and mental point of view. I’m focusing on that more, so it’s a transition somewhere in between. Maybe I’m just exhausted by the amount of matches I have had in the last 15 to 20 months. So maybe all in all that’s the cause of me feeling this way.

But again, as I said, I had to experience this sooner or later. I knew I could not go on playing on the highest level for so many years all the time, but it’s good to experience this so I can hopefully get better in the period to come. I guess we all, as humans, I experience that kind of oscillations every day, and sometimes things don’t go the way you want them to go.”

The world no.1 will now try to get his best fitness for the last push in Paris and London.
