Rafael Nadal was very disappointed after crashing out in the Shanghai opener at the hands of Vickor Troicki. This defeat made Rafa thinking that it would be possibly useful not play the rest of the season to focus his preparation for 2017.
Why it could be a good idea to skip the rest of the season
The Mallorcan is well aware that he is not at his very best, and this is the least favorable part of the season for him (indoor). Since Rafa wants to be back in full strengths in 2017, he might choose not to play for the rest of 2016.
Rafa commented
“It’s been tough to be on rhythm and [being] confident. I cannot say now what I’m going to do during the next month.
I’m not 100 percent sure about my calendar, the things I need to do to be ready for the next year. I need to speak to my team. I need to speak to my uncle, too.”
It’s a tough part of the season for me. The tournaments are difficult. Surfaces are difficult.
Sometimes [just competing] is not the solution. Sometimes the solution is practice, and stop, and [continue the] process of training. And maybe it’s an opportunity to do that. I’m not sure.”

| WHAT TO DO? |
It depends if he has problems with his wrist. He lamented that he didn`t strike the forehand as he should. So, probably that`s the real reason.
