What Federer’s children sang to Roger after he beat Nadal in Wimbledon

How Federer's family has been the backbone of his success

Roger Federer always had this great benefit of his family around him in his important matches which boosts his morale. His loving wife is always with him from the time they first met. The Swiss champion credits his wife for his continued success on the tennis court. He says that he can hear the voice of his significant other during matches which helps him time and again. Federer says:

“I am glad Mirka is around, nothing would happen without her. The organization for the final is already underway. A final is a final. Novak has played amazingly this year and last. I need to perform at a high level.”

Federer and his family

During Wimbledon, his family was staying in a house very near to the Wimbledon courts and when Federer won his semifinal match against Rafael Nadal in the Wimbledon, his children sung ‘Happy Birthday’ song for him though his birthday was still 4 weeks away. Federer said about this:

“They probably thought it was my birthday today as everyone was congratulating me, they understood that I had won and perhaps that is the only happy song they know. All the children are playing together, so I don’t know how much tennis they watched but I assume they had a good afternoon.”

Mirka and Federer had met during the Sydney Olympics for the first time and she has been his most important supporter since then, she takes care of most of the important aspects of Federer’s life.

Federer loves the fact that his wife and kids are around during his matches:

“Of course I feel that she feels that it is important for me to win, so I can feel during the match how tense it is because I hear her occasionally because I know her voice. She would only cry out or scream when she is excited. It is good that Mirka comes to the matches and enjoys it. But the kids are on her plate all the time. I have to recover and need time to do that. Especially on the day after the match. But she is continuously working and nothing would function without her so I am really happy to have her around.

I know how to prepare for finals in terms of seeing the physio and training. My wife and my family help a great deal.”
