Simona Halep, the first Romanian to win Wimbledon, is popular for her kind and charitable acts. Her Foundation is helping children realise their dreams in the area of sports, health, and education.

Simona wants to help 1 million children

She declared in front of more than 30000 fans that she wants to create many champions like herself and for that she will take help and guidance from the Romanian Tennis Federation to achieve her goal. The world no.4 said that she wants to help 1 million children after the US Open.

“After the US Open, when I will have more free time, I will live in my country with the Federation’s officials to discover more young people. We want to pick more children that we will guide to this sport. I want one million children. I want them to go to tennis and become champions. To come in this stadium and celebrate them!”

Simona recently took part in a fund-raising exhibition match during the Sports Festival in Cluj-Napoca.

Simona wants to devote more time to the Foundation once her career is over. The Romanian says that the main goal of the Foundation is to leave a legacy, she wants to see many children become champions like her.

The current world no.4 is one of the most popular sportspersons in Romania. After her Wimbledon triumph, the church gave her Patriarchal Cross and the Presidency gave her Star of Romania award.
