Fiona Ferro stuns Alize Cornet 6-1 2-6 6-1 in the final in Lausanne on Sunday.

1st set.
Ferro overpowered the opposition at the beginning of the set after breaking Cornet in the 2nd game (2-0) before consolidating her break and lead 3-0. Fiona extended her lead after breaking the French Player in the 6th (5-1) game before winning the set (6-1).
2nd set.
Cornet in this set was too good for Ferro and eventually she won 6-2 after breaking Ferro in the 3rd (2-1) game. Cornet was broken in the 3 times in the 4th (2-2), in the 6th (2-4) and in the 8th (2-6) game, but that didn’t prevent her to conquer the set (6-2).
Ferro was not able to offer any resistance in the last 5 games of the set (from 1-2 to 6-2).
3rd set.
Ferro was pretty sharp at the beginning of the set after breaking Cornet in the 1st game (1-0). Nonetheless, that wasn’t sufficient for the French Player to win the set as the French Player managed to break back in the 2nd (1-1) game. Fiona kept her focus to break Alize in the 3rd (2-1), in the 5th (4-1) and in the 7th (6-1) game.
Alize was completely knocked out in the last 5 games of the set (from 1-1 to 6-1).
At the end of the match, Fiona scored 78 points vs. Alize’s 66 points.
The French Player didn’t lose the focus when converting 78% of the break points that she procured (7/9). On the other side, the French Player was pretty focused in converting 67% of the break points that she conquered points (4/6). Nevertheless, that was not enough to win the match.
After this contest, the head to head between Ferro and Cornet is 1-0 for Fiona.

After the match, Fiona confessed “I’m very happy and very relieved. It was a very tough match against a fellow French player and a friend – it was very difficult to stay calm and to stay in the moment. When you play a friend the emotions always take over.”
