Alexander Zverev and Dominic Thiem are good friends, but this doesn’t prevent for things to be interesting on the tennis court.
Sasha and Dominic had a horrible draw in Beijing to play each other in the first round. Even if Thiem had a 3-0 record against the German, he wasn’t the favorite in this encounter because Sasha seemed to be much “fresher” than Dominic for the last few weeks.
After losing the first set (6-4), Zverev got a decisive 5-0 lead in the second set to win 6-1. In the third set, Thiem collapsed again to lose four consecutive games after he was leading 3-2. The final score was 4-6 6-1 6-3.

Now ranked no.24, Zverev is few points from breaking in the top20. This target should be easily reached by the German that has no points to defend from now till the end of the year.
