Tomas Berdych manages to defend his title in Shenzhen after a massive battle against Richard Gasquet.
Tomas had to fight for 2 hours and 40 minutes against Richard. After splitting the first two sets at the breaker, the Czech won the decisive break in the 6th game of the 4th set (4-2) before winning the final 7-6 (5) 6-7 (2) 6-3.
This is Berdych 13 career title, the first of the seasons, the 4th in Asia after Tokyo 2008, Beijing 2011, and Shenzhen 2015.
Why this title is special
Tomas had to miss the US Open because he had to be operated to the appendicitis, so winning this title was quite a surprise also for him.
