Daniil Medvedev is eagerly anticipating his return to Indian Wells for the 2025 BNP Paribas Open. The Russian tennis star, known for his candid and sometimes fiery on-court demeanor, has expressed a desire to temper his vocal reactions during matches. “I do think on the court I should talk less,” Medvedev admitted, reflecting on his past experiences and the impact of his behavior on his performance.

Medvedev’s relationship with Indian Wells has evolved significantly over the years. Initially, he struggled to find his footing in the desert conditions, but his persistence paid off as he reached back-to-back finals in 2023 and 2024. Despite his initial reservations about the tournament, he has grown to appreciate the unique challenges it presents and the opportunities it offers for growth and improvement.

The 2025 edition of the tournament brings a new twist with the introduction of Laykold courts, replacing the previous Plexipave surface. Medvedev has already voiced his opinions on the new courts, noting that they seem even slower than before. However, he remains optimistic about his chances and is determined to adapt to the conditions.

Off the court, Medvedev has found a sense of comfort and routine in Indian Wells. He and his team have settled into a house, where they enjoy cooking, playing pool, and spending quality time together. This sense of stability and camaraderie has contributed to his growing fondness for the tournament and his improved performances.

As Medvedev prepares for the upcoming matches, he is focused on maintaining a positive mindset and staying composed under pressure. His goal is to channel his energy into his game, rather than letting his emotions get the better of him. With his sights set on victory, Medvedev is ready to take on the competition and showcase his skills on the Indian Wells stage.

“Well, first of all, as I say, I do think on the court I should talk less,” Medvedev said. “The thing is that here, I think that I speak what I think. On the court sometimes I say things which I don’t really think. “It’s just because of the adrenaline, the stakes, the pressure of the moment, I sometimes say things which after the game I can clearly say I did not think this, it’s not true.”
