Petra Kvitova and Dominika Cibulkova will play the final in Wuhan

After an extremely disappointing season, Petra has finally the opportunity to win the first title in 2016. The Czech has been playing a magnificent tournament in Wuhan. After beating Angelique Kerber in an epic match (3 hours and 20 minutes), Petra dismissed Johanna Konta (6-3 6-4) and Simona Halep. The semi against the Romanian 6-1 6-2 in just 67 minutes.
After the match against Simona, Petra commented
“It’s amazing. I came to this tournament and really didn’t expect this kind of performance. Physically I’m still so-so. I’m really happy that I’m not falling apart. But I played a really great match today in spite of everything, which really put the pressure on her.”
Cibulkova
Dominika is having one of her epic tournaments. The Slovakian has won 4 matches of 5 in 3 sets, and she has managed to defeat in the same day Karolina Pliskova and Barbora Strycova. In the semifinal, Cibulkova defeated Svetlana Kuznetsova 3-6 6-3 6-4 after 2 hours and 30 minutes’ battle.
After the match, Dominika commented
“I would say that nothing has been easy here. I’ve had really tough matches from the first round so you don’t expect anything easy from this tournament. I’m really looking forward to another final and I want to keep going, keep playing like this.”
