US OPEN makes history with huge prize money

Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, and Rafael Nadal are not the only ones to benefit from huge prize money at the Flushing Meadows

Fantastic news from the US Open that announced a steep increase in the prize money to become the richest Grand Slam tournament in history.

The announcement came out on Thursday when USTA chairperson Patrick Galbraith revealed: “The US Open prides itself on offering the best tennis players in the world the richest total prize money in our sport.”

About contributing to the players’ pension plan

Then Galbraith added

“We strive to be innovative, and feel that our new contribution of $500 000 to both the ATP’s pension plan and the WTA Tour’s transition programs for players will go a long way toward the long-term financial well-being of all of our sport’s athletes.”

It’s not only about Djokovic, Federer, and Nadal

The organization is also proud to have dramatically increased the prize money for the players that will reach only the early rounds to give a decisive contribution to their finance.

For example, a player the reaches “only” the 2nd round will get $100.000 in prize money. Therefore even if the top players will get the most of it, the “other” will also have a clear financial benefit.
