Wawrinka, Zverev to play the final

Stan Wawrinka and Alexander Zverev will play the St. Petersburg final.

Wawrinka

Seeded no.1, Stan is having a great stint as he is on a ten matches winning streak, and he has won the last 11 finals. The Swiss has reached the final in St. Petersburg without playing his best tennis, but that was enough not to concede a single set on the way. In the semifinal, Wawrinka defeated Roberto Bautista-Agut 7-6 (8) 6-2.

Stan released a very short, but straightforward comment after the match “For me to make the final, it’s really good, really positive.”

Zverev

Seeded no.5, Alexander had a great run during this week. He has also not conceded a single set even if he had to play strong opponents such as Youzhny and world no.9 Tomas Berdych (in the semifinal). Sasha defeated the Czech 6-4 6-4.

Why an upset is quite possible

Stan and Alexander have never played each other so far. The Swiss is the obvious favorite for the title, but the German is playing a better tennis right now. This final can go anywhere, but an upset is quite possible.
