Emma Raducanu, the British tennis sensation, has recently experienced a distressing stalking incident during her match in Dubai. The 22-year-old was reduced to tears and sought refuge on the court after spotting a man displaying concerning behavior in the crowd. This individual had already approached her once that week, showing signs of “fixated behavior.” The man was detained by UAE police and issued a restraining order.

In response to this harrowing experience, the organizers of the Indian Wells Open have taken significant measures to ensure Raducanu’s safety and participation in the prestigious Californian tournament. The event, which begins next week, is making special arrangements to provide Raducanu with up to five extra security guards. The WTA Tour’s vice-president of security, Bob Campbell, will oversee these arrangements. Campbell brings extensive experience, having served as a secret service agent from 1983 to 2003, notably holding a prominent role during Bill Clinton’s presidency before transitioning to sports security with Major League Baseball
