Today marks the third anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, a conflict that has had profound and far-reaching consequences. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called for “real, lasting peace” this year, emphasizing the need for strength, wisdom, and unity to achieve it. European leaders, including European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, have gathered in Kyiv to show their continued support for Ukraine.

The conflict, which began on February 24, 2022, has resulted in significant loss of life and displacement of millions of people. Cities across Ukraine have been devastated, and the war has caused immense human suffering. Despite the challenges, Ukraine has shown remarkable resilience and determination in defending its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

As the world reflects on the past three years, the international community continues to stand with Ukraine, reaffirming their commitment to supporting the country in its fight for peace and stability.

Elina Svitolina posted the following message in support of her fellow citizens.

“Today marks three years since russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Three years of unimaginable pain, loss, and destruction. Three years of unwavering
resilience, courage, and unity.

Despite all the suffering, Ukraine stands strong. Our people continue to fight-not just for our land, but for our right to exist, for our democracy, for our future.

The bravery of our soldiers, the determination of our citizens, and the unbreakable will of our nation inspire the world every single day.

I want to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who supports Ukraine in this fight-our allies, the humanitarian organizations, and each and every person who refuses to stay silent. Your solidarity gives us strength. Your help saves lives. Your belief in our
victory fuels our determination.

Ukraine will never give up. We will never surrender. And we will never forget those who stand with us. Glory to Ukraine!”
