Ocean Dodin had a rather miserable year so far. Before the tournament in Quebec City, the Frenchwoman has lost the last nine matches; her last win was back in April. Eventually, the 19-year-old surprised everyone to conquer her maiden title in Quebec City. Ocean didn’t beat any top player during the week (the highest ranked was the world no.78 Naomi Broady), but a title is a title.
Dodin defeated Lauren Davis in the final 6-4 6-3. The key moment was when the Frenchwoman won 5 consecutive games to grab the first set and gain a decisive lead in the second (from 4-4 to 6-4 3-0).

It’s very special for me. DODIN
After the match, Ocean commented “It’s very special for me. This is a very nice tournament; I feel like I’m in France because the people are very friendly and supportive of me! Everyone was with me today, and that helps so much when it’s a tough score.”
After this tournament, Dodin will break in the top100 for the first time in her career.
