Stan Wawrinka has once again surprised after getting to the US Open final. The Swiss has managed to get to the final act of this slam after saving a match point against Evans in the 3rd round. Then, Stan has found his way against a combative Del Potro, and in the semi-final he reversed his fortune after Nishikori was leading 1 set and one break up without much struggle. Eventually, Stan managed to win 4-6 7-5 6-4 6-2.

“I knew I could always come back,” said Wawrinka “My game plan is to be aggressive. I knew I could fight for three, four, five hours. I want to make them suffer, and that’s what I did against Del Potro and today as well.
It was really wet,” Wawrinka added. “It was tough conditions. I just knew that it was important not to show it, to stay there, because I also know that in a five-set match there is some up and down. It’s important not to spend energy by being negative and show the opponent that you’re struggling. I think today it makes a big difference for myself.”
The final vs. Djokovic
Stan will play Djokovic for his third slam. The head to head is 2-4 for Djokovic, but Wawrinka has already hurt Nole in their last slam final after he defeated him in Paris.
