At 37 years of age, both Roger Federer and Serena Williams are very much among the top tennis players in the world. Both reached the final in Wimbledon a few days ago with the Swiss missing the opportunity to conquer his 9th Wimbledon by inches after being unable to convert 2 consecutive championship points on his serve.

However, it is still starling to notice how both are competing at the highest level. Serena explains the secret: technology.

How technology is extending Serena and Roger’s career

During a recent interview, the American sensation commented:

“I think technology has really changed. That’s the only reason I’m able to compete. I feel like if we had this technology 20 years ago, maybe Michael Jordan would still be playing basketball. I just feel like we know so much more about our bodies. Things I do differently now than when I first was on tour, it’s lengthening my career.

It’s not just me, it’s Roger, Tom Brady, Peyton played forever. There are so many athletes now that are able to do better and play longer, even play some of their best ways after the 30s. Those athletes, Tiger obviously, what he did at the Masters, was on top of my mind.”

Serena will be back to competitions in Toronto and she is also planning to plain in Cincinnati to get ready for the US Open.
