Without a shadow of a doubt, Andy Murray is one of the best tennis players on the planet right now, and it is hard to see the British number one slipping up as he hunts a second Grand Slam title in 2016.
Murray has been simply sublime this year, raising his game to new heights on the big stage – most recently at the Olympic Games as he won the gold medal for the second time.
While Novak Djokovic is an exceptional player, Murray is in supreme form right now, and the Scot will fancy his chances of going all the way and beating the Serbian to claim the fourth Grand Slam title of his illustrious career.
At 29 years old, the British star is in the prime of his life and Murray will believe that he is well placed to challenge Djokovic’s superiority at the top of the world rankings.
In recent months, Murray has outclassed Djokovic in the major events and the Scot has closed the gap at the top of the standings. And while a US Open victory for Murray may not be enough for him to leap above Djokovic in the charts, the number one slot has to be his top priority in 2017 – and it is certainly achievable if he continues to perform well.
Before the tournament, pundits and journalists had already penciled both Murray and Djokovic in for the final – and that is the testament to how well the British man is playing right now.
In years gone by, Murray used to crumble under pressure at Grand Slam events, but he is a completely different player nowadays. The Scot is oozing in confidence, and it is only a matter of time before he gets his hands on another Grand Slam crown.
He is never going to catch up to Djokovic’s current tally of 12 major titles, but Murray will be more focused on his own accolades rather than making any comparison to his arch-rival. Tennis fans have been blessed with the Roger Federer-Rafael Nadal rivalry in recent times, but we are now firmly into the Djokovic-Murray era, and we love it.
Quite intrigued when Djokovic/Murray era ends to see whether 3 or 4 players will dominate like the last 10 years or spread round like before

Wimbledon was the one that Murray wanted to win and boy did he manage it. However, a second US Open success would send shockwaves across the sport. Not only will that show that Murray’s previous victory was no fluke, but it would prove that his incredible effort in recent months hasn’t gone to waste.
Murray truly is at the top of his game, and tennis fans should bask in his glow; after all, it has been a while since Great Britain had such a dominant sporting figure in their ranks.
Right now, Murray is priced at 6/4 to win the US Open title with Betway for those betting on tennis, and he stands a decent chance of going all the way and achieving his ultimate goal to end the season on a high. The Scot isn’t unbeatable but on current form, it will take something special to oust the 29-year-old…
Djokovic has struggled as of late and would struggle to beat Murray unless there is a major shift in momentum ahead of the final on September 10th – and that is assuming that both players will be good enough to make the showpiece event. After all, it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see the Serbian crash out of the competition if he continues to produce sub-par performances…
NOT A FLUKE AGAIN?
