Carlos Alcaraz has expanded his team once again, bringing in physiotherapist Fran Rubio following a recent health setback. The world No. 3, who recently hired Samuel Lopez as a second coach alongside Juan Carlos Ferrero, is now reinforcing his medical staff.
Rubio, a longtime friend from Alcaraz’s hometown of Murcia, will share responsibilities with head physiotherapist Juanjo Moreno. He has already been spotted in Alcaraz’s box during the Rotterdam Open, where the Spaniard has been battling a cold.
Alcaraz fell ill after returning from the Australian Open, affecting his preparation for Rotterdam. He was seen coughing and sneezing during practice with Daniil Medvedev and wore a nasal strip during his opening match against Botic van de Zandschulp.
“I’m not feeling 100 percent well yet. I caught a cold when I was at home, but I’m feeling better every day,” Alcaraz said after his first-round match.
Despite his health concerns, Alcaraz is pushing forward. With Lopez taking the lead in coaching duties while Ferrero remains absent, the Spaniard is determined to make an impact at his Rotterdam debut and secure his first indoor hard-court title.
