
At Active+, plans have been submitted to build three padel courts. On what is now a five-a-side football field, a single court and two double courts are part of the proposed construction.
A racquet sport, padel is “the fastest growing sport in the world” and is played on an enclosed court that is about half the size of a typical tennis court. The ball is permitted to bounce against the walls while still being in play, combining aspects of squash and tennis.
According to a spokesperson of East Coast Padel, “the sport is booming” but “Hull is lagging behind.” He clarified that there are currently three padel venues in Lincoln and that padel is anticipated to gain enormous popularity in Hull because of the city’s larger population.
More padel facilities in the area may be possible after the council reviews and decides on the application.
